Some words trigger thoughts naturally - words like "evangelist" might conjure up thoughts of well known televangelists like Jimmy Swaggart or Jim Bakker. These aren't generally good thoughts. Just take a look at the pictures on this page and, if you recall the scandal surrounding these men, your stomach should begin to turn. These men are both back in full time ministry. And, while I would have a hard time trusting anyone that abused their position the way these men have, it is worthy of mentioning and important to remember that God can restore anyone. Another word would be "healer" or "healing". Many of us associate this term with the previously mentioned group. There is much of the time an apprehension with this, as it appears to be hoaxed. People like Benny Hinn have no doubt helped fuel that fire. There have even been movie spoofs mocking those who will use an appearance of healing for financial gain. So, what's the point in bringing these things up? Just because there are people out there making a mess of things, it doesn't change the truth. The fact is that healing is real. It is available. It is something we all need. What is the motivation for me to share this understanding of healing with you? It's the same as the rest of this site - truth. As a matter of fact, there isn't a need for someone else to be there standing with and praying over you for you to be healed. Jesus is the Healer, and He can heal you - both physically and spiritually. |
Below is a compiled list excerpted from Henry Wright's book A More Excellent Way. This section (at present) isn't intended to be very in depth.
